How to make an HTML5 App - App built?
We took the challenge. After a gathering of analysts, investors, and journalists in Boston were introduced with the free online app builder from appsbar, there was some talk about how to make an HTML5 app, how long it would take, and the HTML5 app maker displayed at the meeting was the best free online version available.
As a tech editorial staff covering the start up world, we have been to many of these types of presentations and have covered several “make HTML5 app” companies that seemed to hit on some key features but miss on others. Appsbar promised we could learn how to make an HTML5 app in less than 30 minutes with their HTML5 app maker.
As we mentioned, we took the challenge. We posted “Make HTML5 App” on our white board, made 3 columns with the names of the participating staff and set the timer. The HTML5 app maker group would begin building their apps together and write down any issues that arose during the process.
We set the clock and they were underway, learning how to make an HTML5 app with the help of the app building wizard “Digi” and the template drive software. The goal with the HTML5 app maker group was to develop and app that had functionality but was also customized to the point that it didn't look like a template driven app. To do that, we used company logos and photos that were readily available on our desktops.
Ten minutes in and not only did this group feel like they knew how to make an HTML5 application, there were no issues addressed on the white board. To make HTML5 app ideas come alive, our group began to get creative, with one hooking an mp3 player to the computer and uploading some background music.
Twenty minutes in we had two out of the three HTML5 app maker group finished, with one actually going back because he wanted to make HTML5 app changes and didn't realize he would still have time on his hands. To make HTML5 app changes, he only needed to hit the “edit” button and move back through the app.
After thirty minutes all three of our HTML5 app maker group had completed their apps. The challenge to learn how to make an HTML5 app was completed and the only thing written on the white board was “what’s next?” The learn how to make an HTML5 app in 30 minutes was won by appsbar’s HTML5 app maker. We were suitably impressed with the ease of use that the template provided and the functionality of the platform. As we said, by adding our own logos and photos and songs from one mp3 player we made a custom app.
So what was next? Appsbar has its own app market at appcatch where these HTML5 apps are available for download and for sharing. The mobile applications made with appsbar are immediately available on appcatch and they are available at no charge.
